AMA with Dmitry Gerasimov, March 27, 2025
Category: AMA

Hello everyone! I'm Dmitry Gerasimov, CEO of Cellframe, and I am here with our AMA session. Let's begin with the questions you sent us in advance.
What recent changes have been made to the Web3 API?
I don't want to list all of them, especially when I don't know all the details. I just want to mention that most of this update relates to adding new functionality, like composing custom transactions with custom composition and custom items. More details on Cellframe Wiki. Examine it.
When is the web version of Cellframe Wallet expected to launch?
Sorry, we weren’t going to run a web version. One third-party group decided to develop a web version of Cellframe, and we decided not to do it ourselves for now. So we are focused just on the application. Cellframe Wallet is proposed to be on Android, iOS, and desktop. It's already available as a desktop application, and that's all — no web version.
What are the current timelines for releasing plug-and-play hardware nodes for mainstream users?
Currently, you can already order them. If you want to have a plug-and-play node, just connect with support in our shop and ask them to include the wallet setup in your order. Because, you know, to have a plug-and-play experience, you need to purchase not only the hardware node but also CELL tokens. If you want to purchase it without tokens and just have it prepared with a wallet address where you can deposit it by yourself, it's possible. Anyway, connect with support, and they will figure it out.
Which development area is currently the top priority: smart contracts, DeFi, or two-level sharding?
Two-level sharding is the topmost priority. Everything else comes after that.
At what stage is the implementation of two-level sharding, and when is its full deployment anticipated?
It's more than 50% complete because we have developed the key feature — shard forking. We call shards “cells,” and when a cell becomes overloaded, it forks into two new cells. The old one becomes archived and is visible only to archive nodes, while the new ones continue operating. We have just started testing this forking mechanism. The Release Candidate implements this hard fork mechanism, and we will use it for the common hard fork. This will be the test for the future two-level sharding mechanics.
By the way, it is already present on the SubZero testnet, if you are familiar with our testnets. Once all tests are completed, we will proceed with the hard fork. Some of our holders are waiting for this, so it's coming.
After the hard fork, we just need to automate it. After automation and adding a new network protocol for blockchain status exchanges between different cells, we can roll out full sharding. In short, it's 50% ready.
How is the development of the Cellframe auction functionality progressing, and what key features will it include?
It's mostly ready, just waiting for some polishing. It will be restarted next month, I believe. Key features remain the same: you can lock CELL, vote with these locked CELL for projects, and then wait for returns from these projects — just like everywhere else.
Can you explain how Cellframe’s technology can help optimize decentralized computing?
It depends on what type of decentralized computing you need. If we are talking about public computing, Cellframe can run a dedicated service for it. If we are talking about private computing, Cellframe can reduce scaling and management costs for your computing cluster.
Does the CF-20 standard implement a whitelist mechanism to restrict transactions to specific addresses?
It's already implemented. You can check our documentation on the Cellframe Wiki — it includes a whitelist, an allowlist, and a blocklist as well.
Is the Cellframe team considering adjusting the staking requirements for running masternodes based on the price of the CELL token?
Yes, I’ve mentioned this many times. When the price changes dramatically — especially if it goes up — we will reduce the staking requirements. Moreover, I believe this decision will be put up for voting.
What steps are being taken to improve staking conditions for KelVPN? Will the project migrate to a new contract?
With KelVPN, it's a complicated situation. We don’t want to migrate to a new contract. We already have an endpoint for all migrations: it's the CF-20 KEL token. CF-20 KEL is the final version. Yes, we have a liquidity problem. We were waiting for the native liquidity-providing mechanism on Cellframe. However, we decided to migrate some liquidity to the KEL version 2 smart contract to support reward distribution. We are still waiting for the native LP providing mechanism, which will dramatically change the situation. Until then, in the coming days, we will add liquidity to the current BSC and Ethereum contracts.
Today, we have stopped bridging the old KEL tokens to CF-20. If you still hold version 1 of the KEL token, just wait — we will airdrop the same amount of the new KEL token to you after the liquidity migration. There was a problem with liquidity migration because our old partners hadn’t passed the key to us, but we found a way to resolve it. So, in the coming days, we will take action. Stay tuned, we will make an announcement.
Besides KelVPN, Node.sys, and Dotflat, what other projects is the Cellframe ecosystem currently working on?
The Cellframe ecosystem itself does not develop projects; it is a network of independent developers working on their own initiatives.
Demlabs, the company running Cellframe, also runs KelVPN, but Node.sys and Dotflat are run by separate teams. Other projects include QEVM and CPUNK, which are also preparing something. It’s best to ask them directly.
Are there any large-scale projects or DeFi applications already preparing to launch on Cellframe?
Yes, QEVM is preparing to launch its mainnet, for example.
What events or initiatives is Cellframe planning to promote awareness of its post-quantum technologies during the International Year of Quantum Science 2025?
First of all, we are participating in leading international conferences — mostly crypto conferences — to raise awareness directly. We are also participating in other cryptography events. Stay tuned, we will announce them later.
Where do you envision the Cellframe project in 2026 — in the top 100, top 50, or top 10?
I don't want to make predictions or assumptions, I can only dream. I dream of Cellframe being in the top 5, for example. But who knows? What I do know is that we are doing everything we can to get there. With your help, of course!
Thank you for your attention! You sent a lot of interesting questions. Goodbye, see you later. We are CELL, we are here!
