Cellframe Partners with API3

We are pleased to announce a partnership with API3, a project that will allow smart contract platforms to leverage APIs for the building of meaningful applications in a truly decentralized and trust-minimized way.

API3 builds decentrally governed and quantifiably secure data feeds that power Web 3.0 applications without employing third-party intermediaries. Powered by Airnode-enabled first-party oracles, API3’s dAPI’s are fully decentralized and blockchain-native APIs with quantifiable security.

This partnership will allow API3 to provide access to their Airnode-enabled APIs and dAPIs to developers building on Cellframe. Giving developers access to decentralized external data sources will help our ecosystem create dapps with genuine utility, as well as the security that cutting out third parties in data provision and decentralization bring.

As for API3 tokens — these could be wrapped into the Cellframe ecosystem and vice versa through atomic swaps via our t-d-bridge — truly-decentralized-bridge. This will add users and liquidity for native Cellframe services, and unlocks additional potential synergies to be further explored.

Businesses offer a wide variety of services over APIs, ranging from providing asset price data to executing traditional financial transactions. It is critical for decentralized applications to be able to access the kind of services that APIs offer in order to interact with the real world, yet these APIs are not natively compatible with decentralized applications.

With API3, we aim for the concept of an API to take the next evolutionary step to meet the inevitably strict decentralization requirements of Web 3.0 without employing third-party intermediaries.
