AMA, December 16: the CellVerse development and the updated roadmap of the project

Category: AMA

Dmitriy Gerasimov, CEO of Cellframe, hosted a regular Thursday stream and highlighted many development issues of the project, such as dApps Repository, Dashboard, Qt Creator, GameFi, Metaverse decentralized modern art museum & marketplace in VR. The updated roadmap of the project, which connects with the postponing of the mainnet, is announced as well.

Cellframe dApps Repository has been brought up. Now it is named a plugins button, but it will soon be renamed. The developers have published a new branch release 2.2 of Cellframe Dashboard. It is being prepared right now. And it will include the dApps browser and dApps API.

The mainnet postponing is the biggest pieсe of news of the last week. Anyway, it could be run now, but with bugs. Such quality could lead to unintended consequences. So the developers decided to be responsible for safety and sustainability. “Our main goal is a solid and reliable product without bugs”, — said the CEO.

In this regard, the project’s roadmap has been shifted in 3 months but with few changes. Cellframe Dashboard is still on the way as it has been planned. And the release will be run on December 21. The Dashboard with SubZero will show a full spectrum of abilities of the Cellframe ecosystem. The beta version is already available for download. Bounty program and Cellframe hackathons will be launched on January 21. Hackathons will be launched locally for Russian developers and online for developers from all over the world. A few educational centers in Novosibirsk and India have already confirmed their participation. For hackathons, many examples based on the dApps repository will be prepared. It should help participants and people who want to develop something based on our SDK. To speed up the launch of the mainnet, we encourage ethical hackers to participate in the project. Everyone, who will find any bugs in any critical box, will be rewarded. But the developing team is motivated to close as much as possible before this date. Because all unspent funds of the bounty program will be given to the developers. “Such a rule of the game should make the mainnet as secure as possible”, — highlighted Dmitriy.

Тhird-party Security Audition is planned for February 21. Some companies will be hired for this implementation. Then the launching of the mainnet is scheduled for March 21. All the rest milestones in the roadmap have been shifted right in three months. Before launching the mainnet, the team will continue to develop dApps.

Airdrops and hackathon preparations are discussed in the stream as well. The project continues to update documentation. A lot of new economic docs were uploaded last week at the Cellframe Wiki. Until January 21, tutorials for an easier start to develop dApps will be uploaded there. By the way, the project starts to airdrop the T-Cell token next week. It will be issued only in SubZero native protocol. So anyone could begin developing their own dApps using these tokens.

Сellframe Dashboard is planned to be released in a few days. The mobile version of it is also being prepared. It will be required for Cellverse, Metaverse AR/VR, and GameFi. Right now, the new Cellframe dashboard release candidate is available on GitLab. The public winner will be next week.

Qt Creator Cellframe dApps Plugin will be prepared before hackathons. The developers have selected Qt creator because the Cellframe dApps differ from the general web 3.0 conception. They have become the same as apps even though their development is easier. So, the project’s team makes extensions for the Qt creator for easy development like any Qt-based application. Front-end will look like a Qt application. C/C++ development is not required, but it will still be possible. A node back-end running will also be based on Python. So now it is possible to try developing some extension errors without this plugin. Because this plugin will just put all things together and make the process easier.

An Android version of GameFi is already being prepared for development. Firstly, the AR platform has been developed as a requirement for GameFi. Custom objects stored in a blockchain. And it differs from ordinary game development. “It’s not about something that you sell through google play, a platform for Cyberpunk. It requires changing your mind a little”, — said Dmitriy. Your game will be open-source with a few back-end servers just for issuing, e.x. game objects. This earning model will change on content 7. You create your own game, new content connected with NFT, and then this NFT based content is sold. The game itself is for free.

Cellverse development is a decentralized modern art museum & marketplace in VR (NFT marketplace). This project may be given to some third parties, or it may be a child company. It will be a decentralized modern art museum and marketplace simultaneously. There will be 2d pictures, 3d models, and 3d animation. “It will be a perfect space for creating, and 3d artists will have a platform where their possible buyers or fans could see the objects, which are better to look in VR”, — said Dmitriy.

Moreover, the CEO announced a new partnership with the Out of Space Project. Project sellers will develop new community instruments, CEX and DEX trading tools, and monitors. “Anyway, it’s a good partnership. Also, I will be advising on this project. So soon it will be a pre-sale”, — said Dmitriy.

Some questions:

Is the Cellframe SDK ready for projects to build on?

Yes, it’s ready, and you could use it for second-layer solutions like our new partners. Proof-of-Authority consensus is also ready and can be used for private blockchain or enterprise usage. API is mostly finished for the UI part of dubs. As already mentioned, the Cellframe dashboard plugins are also already. You could try to make some back-end plugins, but there is a lack of documentation. In fact, only one type of project isn’t ready because it requires the mainnet.

Where does the “CELLFRAME” name come from?

A cell is the basis of biological organisms, and a frame is a part of a framework world. So, we found once that our architecture looks like live beans. And we decided to use this metaphor. So, a cell is what is inside our architecture and a frame because we do an ecosystem.

Hi Dmitry, hope you are doing well. My question is regarding the delay for the mainnet. Did you take this delay as an opportunity to ship a more feature-complete product? Or this delay for the same amount of features initially planned for December 21. Thanks, and looking forward to the future of Cellframe!

We will use this delay to fill our dApps repository and prepare more services on the luncher because we have a service based on the economy, and we need more services.

Who are your closest competitors in the blockchain space, and how do you plan to beat them?

I don’t like questions about competitors. I prefer to cooperate rather than compete. But our main competitors are the third generation blockchain such as Polkadot, Cardano, Cosmos. I believe that we are moving forward and switching from competition to collaboration. I cannot say they are better because we have a better mechanism. So, I will collaborate with them. Anyway, we are better.

We have seen Cardano recently announce about building a quantum security layer right. So, if they build it from scratch, how much time would it take them to build one?

Generally, adding the new signature and new wallet type is not so hard. The problem is that the wallets, which have been already created, couldn’t be replaced. You will need to create a new one to transfer your funds there. If you don’t do this, your money could be stolen. It is good that Cardano has decided to work with this at the current time. All their users may switch on their wallets before the quantum apocalypse. By the way, it doesn’t depend more on quantum encryption implementation but on psychological issues.

In an AMA a few months ago, you mentioned that you’re planning to allocate new liquidity with the help of “taproot,” could you explain what this taproot is and how is it supposed to allocate new liquidity?

Taproot is an extension for BTC protocol that allows creating many things, especially trustless liquidity pools based on Bitcoin. And we want to make such a pulse and connect it with Cellframe. It means that we will have a liquidation source from Bitcoin. We will run it based on the mainnet Gate.io with BTC as fast as possible after the mainnet launch.

Will the performance of my device affect staking? Better performance = better staking?

There is a slight difference between us and other protocols. We have no emissions. All the cells are already minted, and everything is in circulation. If you have more money for staking, you will have some preferences for your service orders. Imagine you provide a service, and there is a long waiting list. If you have a bigger stake, your orders become higher, and there is more probability that people will select your order. So, it will affect but not directly. Also, the biggest staking could provide higher income because you could break your stake with paths, delegate it to different people, and earn fees from their service providing. As more performances, you have, as more services you can provide.

That’s the actual TPS during the testnet. Please provide the numbers. Thanks.

It has not been measured yet. We’re waiting for the third subchain. Actual TPS will be counted when turn-based, and we’ll have all of them.

I am sometimes confused whether Cellframe is more of a Layer-1 or a Layer-0, or is it a scaling solution like a Layer-2? As far as I understand, it is a Layer-0 and Layer-1 at the same time. Could you please clarify this?

Layer zero is interoperability usage. Layer one is basic usage. Layer two is something underlying and specific. So, Cellframe could be used for every Layer. It’s a white usage SDK.
