AMA with Dmitry Gerasimov, July 25, 2024
Category: AMA
Hello everyone! I'm Dmitry Gerasimov, lead of the Cellframe project. Welcome to our regular AMA session. We'll start with the questions you've sent us beforehand.
Will the m-token limit be added to the masternodes with the update to node 5.3? If so, what will it be?
The limits are not related to any specific node release. They will be introduced in future floor-up updates, which we plan to release later.
After it becomes possible for the owners of m-tokens to block them in other people's masternodes, what will be the distribution of rewards among all participants?
The distribution of rewards depends on the agreement between the stake owner and the masternode owner. When you delegate your m-tokens, you can specify a mandatory fee in the transaction and the agreement. The masternode owner must send the agreed portion of their reward to the stake owner. If this market mechanism doesn't work effectively, we may consider implementing limitations.
Will the owner of the masternode receive additional income from the delegates?
The masternode owner will receive income from the delegated funds. There is no direct income from delegates for providing services, only the commission mentioned above.
Can you share details about the EVM-compatible project mentioned in the Cellframe roadmap?
Initially, we planned to develop our own EVM compatibility layer. However, we came across some startup projects interested in doing it themselves. One such project, QEVM, has since launched. QEVM is a parachain capable of running Ethereum-compatible smart contracts. For more details, it's best to contact the QEVM lead, Yan Smith.
There is no information about the web wallet in the Cellframe roadmap. Does the team plan to implement a web wallet as part of the project?
If no one else develops it, we will undertake it ourselves. We're currently waiting for our web team to have the necessary resources. That's why the web wallet isn't included in our roadmap, which mainly focuses on our backend team, desktop application team, and middleware group. This web development will run parallel to our other projects. Essentially, we are waiting for the new 5.3 release, which will include the extended JSON-RPC protocol needed for these features.
Will it be possible to use the Cellframe Web3 wallet for trading on the native DEX, or do you necessarily need a Cellframe Dashboard for this?
We are planning to launch a Web3 version of the Cellframe DEX, so it will not be mandatory to use the Cellframe Dashboard for trading.
Are there plans to run a masternode on Windows using the Cellframe Dashboard after the release of node 5.3?
Yes, with the current version of the node, you can already run a masternode on Windows through the Cellframe Dashboard. However, there's no user interface (UI) for it yet. We're waiting for the next Cellframe Dashboard update, which will include a masternode extension to make it easier. If you're in a hurry, you'll need some experience with configuration files or terminal commands.
Is the launch of Cellframe smart contracts planned for 2025?
I think it will be earlier, possibly by the end of 2024, but 2025 for sure.
Are there plans to sell out-of-the-box Node.sys nodes, and is this expected to happen in 2024?
Yes, we are planning for it, possibly in the next month.
How are preparations for the launch of the two-way bridge going? Is the date announced at the previous AMA session still relevant?
Unfortunately, the launch has been delayed to next month. We planned to launch it this month, but the security audit took longer than expected. We intended to release node 5.3 as a stable version and then optimize performance in version 5.4. However, the current performance was really bad, so we had to implement some of the planned improvements in the 5.3 release, which significantly boosted its speed. The next version will be much faster, but we need time to review all the new code. The current version of the Cellframe node is now much more stable, and all critical bridges have been patched. While we might be taking more care than necessary, it's crucial for security. So, we've pushed the launch to the end of August.
You recently announced that you will participate in Blockchain Life again this year. Will you be a speaker there? Is the purpose of this trip different from the previous one?
I won't be a speaker, but I'll be on the jury for startup pitches. The goal of this trip is to find the best startups for our ecosystem.
Any plans for a new Cellframe Explorer page?
We already have Cellframe Explorer.
Could you share your future plans for voting within the ecosystem?
After the 5.3 release, we’ll launch a special page for voting. We are prioritizing this feature to give our community more opportunities to participate in our future developments.
What are your dreams about your position in the crypto market?
We aim to be in the top three, and it's not just a dream — it's a realistic goal. Being in the top 10 is definitely possible.
Why has the price dropped recently?
This is normal in crypto. We're currently between bull runs, so there's no need to worry.
What are your thoughts on having L2 for the network?
We don't need Layer 2 solutions because our network already has built-in sharding. Most third-generation blockchains, like ours, don't require L2. Nevertheless, the SDK can be used to build L2 solutions for other networks.
Will CELL move from Coinbase Wallet to a larger centralized exchange (CEX)?
We're not yet listed on Coinbase's exchange, only their wallet. Our largest current exchange is BitMart, but we’re aiming for more. NDA restrictions mean we can only share details just before new listings.
There have been issues with Cellframe being recognized as a virus on Windows 11. Can you solve this problem?
We're working on getting the official Microsoft certificate. Meanwhile, you can disable the mandatory signature check on Windows to download it.
Dashboard isn't working. What should users do?
Please contact our support center. Most installations are working fine, but for computation needs, we plan to run more distributed services, aiming for early next year.
Thank you for your time and support. Goodbye and see you next time!
